News! And an AGENT CONTEST! :)

Wanna know what’s coming up on the blog? Sure you do, and I’m gonna tell you. Cuz I’m cool like that.

Next week, we have an INTERVIEW. From a Reject reader who has some exciting news to share. On September 12, S.R. Johannes (author of Untraceable and the upcoming Uncontrollable) will be joining us for an interview about indie vs self-publishing.

We have an agent contest coming up! :) Mark your calanders or phone or what have you, for Friday September  7th. We will begin accepting submissions at 9am and will be a little different from our previous contests. Some quick notes:
  • We will take the first 30 entries.
  • You must be a follower of the blog to enter.
  •  The entries WILL BE POSTED ON THE BLOG.
  •   Entries will be open to peer critique, and we (the Rejects) will be stopping by and offering thoughts. (You are not guaranteed a crit from a Reject).
  • IF YOUR ENTRY IS ACCEPTED, you must critique at least 5 others.
  • Our super awesome-sauce agent will be reading and selecting her favorite
  • This is for FINISHED POLISHED manuscript
  • You’ll need a tagline and the first 250 (ish) words.

So here’s how to format it
Book Title:
1ST 250 WORDS:

Simple enough, yeah?  Genres are:
Historical Fiction
Middle Grade
Science Fiction
Women's Fiction
Young Adult

Posts will go live on the blog for critique on Monday the 10th. Questions? Ask in the comments! :)

  1. All these agent contests make my fingers itchy, but I know my current WIP isn't ready yet. I'll be sitting this one out, but I can't wait to read the submissions.

  2. It's taking Fantasy and Science Fiction? Yay!

9AM ... EST? Central? Gotta crunch the numbers so I'm ready!

    1. One more question: Any particular length for the tagline?

  3. Yes, EST!! Entire will be emailed to :)

    1. Darn. Just been informed my internet will be offline at that time (From 8:30am est to 1:30pm). -_-

Ah well. Good luck everyone on getting through! ^_^ I'll catch you all next time, hopefully.

  4. Goodie. Another contest. :) I'm prepped up and ready!

  5. Sounds like fun :)
Can't wait to see all the goodies the contestants will share with us.

  6. Thanks for hosting! What should be written in the email subject line?

    1. Agent Contest would be nice, but it's not too important :)

  7. Yay for contests!
That said, as a California girl I have a love/hate relationship with contests starting at 9am Eastern Time:) One of these days I'm going to have to figure out how to make my email send when I'm still sleeping...

    1. It's 1am Saturday for me. ^_^ At least, it was. Now I couldn't enter any sooner than 6am. Willing to bet it'll be filled up well before then.

I wish I could make yahoo send the email instead of outlook. Just this once. Seeing my net will be offline. Why couldn't have my provider done it last Saturday morning? -_-

    2. Robin and Aldrea (and anyone else with timezone/timing problems) - there's a plugin you can download for Firefox (and maybe other browsers?) called Boomerang - it works with Gmail and allows you to schedule emails to be sent at a future date and time.

    3. Thank you for letting me know. Looking into Boomerang now:)

    4. Awesome! It works for Chrome and Sarafi.

Now to bag me a gmail account ...
